Hello, Ciao, Ayubowan!
My name is Sheran Dulmiksha Munasinghe Arachchige. I’m a Sri Lankan-Italian living in Washington DC, and I’ve dedicated myself to the mission of accelerating decarbonization and creating a livable planet for all. If you’re interested in connecting, please reach out — I’d love to chat!
My Story
My parents fled Sri Lanka during the Civil War and came to a small town in rural Italy, just south of Rome, where I was born and raised. They worked hard to give me the chance to be the first in my family to graduate from high school and college. I owe everything I’ve accomplished to them.
Over the past five years, I have had the incredible opportunity to work and study across the world — from Malaysia, Sri Lanka, and Australia to South Korea, Denmark, and Italy — focusing on how I can help build a more sustainable future for our planet, and for the places like where my parents grew up.
Recognized As An Emerging Leader By GreenBiz
I was humbled to be selected last year as an “Emerging Leader” by GreenBiz for their annual GreenFin Conference. I had the opportunity to connect with amazing peers and leaders in the world of sustainable finance — and got to do my first interview! In it, I shared my thoughts on the future of green hydrogen and its role in accelerating decarbonization in key sectors. Let me know what you think!
My Work At RMI
Since 2022, I have had the privilege of getting to work at my dream job — at the incredible nonprofit organization RMI (formerly known as the Rocky Mountain Institute). RMI’s mission is to “transform global energy systems through market-based solutions to secure a clean, prosperous, zero-carbon future for all.”
The primary focus of my role at RMI is to leverage green hydrogen to reduce emissions in the industries that are the most difficult to decarbonize (fertilizers, concrete, shipping, etc.).
The Capitol Hill Climate Salon
In late 2023, I co-launched the Capitol Hill Climate Salon — an invite-only salon series that gives select up-and-coming climate professionals the opportunity to meet and learn from extraordinary expert leaders in the climate/sustainability field. Some of our recent guest speakers have included Kim Carnahan (who oversaw and spearheaded key negotiations for the Paris Climate Accords) and Molly Kawabata (the star of the Patagonia documentary “Scale of Hope”). We are filling out our calendar of 2024 speakers and attendees — if you are interested in speaking or attending, please let me know!
